Designed by renowned course architect Ross Watson, the course has its own unique character. The open 'links' style layout is deceptive. Though not overly long in comparison to new golf courses, the strength of the course lies in its strong par 4's. Three par-4s on the back nine, all developed by Watson have taken the course to a new level. Beautifully crafted mounds line of the fairways giving definition and a bit of danger to every shot. Slick greens - many with pronounced undulations - have long been recognised as among the best putting surfaces in Australia. Elevated tees or greens, with sweeping views of the city, are key features of the course design, which emphasises the rugged natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Hole : 1 Par: 5 439 metres.
A reachable par 5 with a good tee shot. Keep your tee shot down the left to create a clear shot to the green for your second. If laying up for your second, stay short of all the fairway bunkers for a wedge shot from a flat lie in the fairway.
Hole : 2 Par: 4 287 metres.
Playing Description: Hit your tee shot 200 metres down the fairway, avoiding the fairway bunkers on both sides of the fairway. This will leave you with a flat lie for your wedge approach.
Hole : 3 Par: 3 178 metres.
The green is slightly obscured by bush, as is the drop to the left which leaves a tough save. Aim for the middle of the green.
Hole : 4 Par: 5 442 metres.
A solid drive into the fairway will give you the chance to hit the green in two. There is more room to the right for your second than appears. The elevated green slopes to the front left, try to stay below the hole.
Hole : 5 Par: 3 175 metres.
Protect against short-siding yourself on this par three. In general playing long on this hole gives you a good result for any pin position.
Hole : 6 Par: 4 337 metres.
Driver or 3-wood for the longer hitters over the corner tree of the dogleg is a good line. Otherwise play to the fairway that is visible off the tee as out of bounds is close on right.
Hole : 7 Par: 4 287 metres.
The widest part of the fairway is 200 metres off the tee. Playing to this distance will leave you a wedge to the green from a side hill lie. Favour the right side of the green with your approach.
Hole : 8 Par: 4 399 metres.
A definite driver hole. Middle of the green for two is always a good result.
Hole : 9 Par: 4 372 metres.
Keep your tee shot up the right side of the fairway to avoid the fairway bunkers. A long drive will bounce down the hill, leaving a short iron for the second shot. Aim for the left portion of the green to avoid the greenside bunkers on the right, from where it is a tough up and down.
Hole : 10 Par: 4 310 metres.
The most generous landing area is 200 metres off the tee from a left sloping bank. This will leave you a wedge approach from a flat lie to an elevated green with plenty of undulations.
Hole : 11 Par: 5 486 metres.
Keep your tee shot up the right side of the fairway to avoid the fairway bunkers. Bail out right when going for it in two. If laying up for your second shot, 100 metres from the green is the best place to finish. There is a big drop-off to the right of green leaves a tough chip.
Hole : 12 Par: 3 156 metres.
Take one extra club for this uphill Par 3. Pay attention to the wind as you are protected from on the tee but not at the green.
Hole : 13 Par: 4 379 metres.
Avoid the fairway bunker on the right when taking driver off this downhill Par 4. This uphill second shot plays longer as often into the prevailing wind.
Hole : 14 Par: 4 377 metres.
A driver into the fairway will leave you an uphill second shot from an uphill lie. Always favour the right side of the green when approaching the flag.
Hole : 15 Par: 4 387 metres.
Driver down the right side of the fairway to avoid the fairway bunker. Always favour the right side of the green when approaching this flag.
Hole : 16 Par: 3 144 metres.
This shot plays a little shorter than the distance suggests. Note the pin position as there may be three clubs difference from front to back.
Hole : 17 Par: 4 298 metres.
200 metres off the tee is the widest landing area on this short Par 4. This will leave a wedge approach to a small green that you must stay underneath the pin at all times.
Hole : 18 Par: 4 413 metres.
Driver at the left fairway bunker is a good line off the tee. This will leave a long second shot to a green that angles to the right. Par is always a good score.
